Tuesday tea time April 12 2010

My dear friend Fairmaiden over at Sea Cottage has tea on Tuesdays, so I thought I'd join her. If you haven't met Fairmaiden yet be sure and stop by for tea ... I know she won't mind.


My pretty tea cup is from England and my sweet sister in-law gave it to me as a gift and I love it.
I love to read my Country Living magazine when I have time to have tea.

My table in my kitchen nook is displayed with very special items, like the butterfly planter that once belonged to my mother. She really knew how to set a table for tea. Have you noticed the white porcelain tea warmer under my teapot. That tea warmer holds a tea light candle which keeps the tea warm.

Even the table cloth is attached to memories. I found it at the open market in Paris. Yes, you heard me right. Paris, France, where I wandered to my hearts content at the most beautiful flea market I've ever been to. This tablecloth has little shamrocks in the cut work and all around the edge of the tablecloth. Since I got married on St. Patrick's Day, this table cloth screamed my name!

50th Sunday Favorites April 10,2010

Chari over at Happy to Design in hosting the 50th Sunday Favorites. Be sure and visit Chari to see all the other Sunday Favorites. I haven't been able to participate much lately but I always enjoy it when I do.

In 2008 I spent a month in London with a dear friend who graciously shared her fabulous city with me, so this is the post I decided to share with you today.

Pierce Brosnan was the focus of this post, because I posted this story back in March of '08 around St. Patty's Day and he's my favorite Irish man.

When I was in London last year my dear friend Sybil Kretzmer took me to see the London Eye. See photo above. We took a ride on the London Eye to get a great view of the city. The wax statue of Pierce Brosnan was in the entry of the building where we went to purchase our tickets. I wish I had another full view picture of Pierce because he was packing a machine gun wearing his beautiful tux. This is a very handsome statue of him, but I will say, I think my skin looks better than his, don't you? L.O.L.

In this next photo you will notice Pierce in the flesh, no wax statue here. My daughter Brook was hired to go down the Colorodo River as a personal shiatzu massage therapist to ten Hollywood big wigs, which included Pierce Brosnan. In the picture below, Pierce graciously poses with my daughter Brook, the blonde, sunburned and smiling, cutie, and the rest of the crew.
Brook celebrated her birthday that summer on the Grand Canyon and who better to serenade her a "Happy Birthday to You" than Pierce Brosnan and producer Mark Burnett. That was definitely a trip she will never forget.

According to my daughter, Pierce Brosnan is a complete gentleman, who easily conversed with the crew members, that were there to make everyone have a memorable time. Yes, he will always be my favorite 007.

Road Trip to Tucson

Last night my middle daughter Brook opened for Mark Growden at the Screening Room in Tucson.

Last year Brook set a goal for herself to write 20 songs by Jan.1 of 2010. She not only accomplished her goal but managed to round up some very talented musicians to accompany her on the mandolin, guitar and cello.

Luck has always been on my Brookie's side and this was no exception. Of course she has always been a tireless worker and with all of her hard work she landed her first big gig. Opening for Mark Growden, with accompaniment by Brian Hullfish, Oliver Blaylock and Paul Wright from Missing Parts her dreams are being manifested.

If you would like to hear her first recorded song you can visit her website and click on music. I think I've listened to this song at least one hundred times since she posted it. For a short time she took it off the website, because she didn't feel it was good enough. Being her mother, I insisted it was good enough and told her I would cry if she didn't put it back up immediately. Yes, I succumbed to mother guilt, but I had no other choice!

This morning my eldest daughter packed up the car and headed to Tucson with my three grandsons to see her sister's singing debut. My grandsons are so excited to see their Auntie and be treated to back stage passes to meet the band and congratulate their Auntie Brookie.

My daughter Amanda will celebrate her birthday with her sons and her sister on Wednesday April 14th and then head home. I wish I could be with them, but I'm so glad Brook will have her sister and her nephews to cheer her on!

1970's Fashion

Isn't it Fashion Friday out there in blogland somewhere? This is my version of 70's fashion. I wish I still had that belt I was wearing because this kind of belt has made a big come back in today's fashion world. I made the brown paisley dress. Granny dresses (that's what we called dresses that went down to our ankles in the 60's and 70's) were all the rage.

Tuesday tea...April 6,'10

Fairmaiden at Sea Cottage has extended an invitation for Tuesday tea. I especially love afternoon tea. Fairmaiden is having scones with her tea. I love baking scones, but I didn't have time today, so I settled for a oat bran raspberry blueberry muffin from Trader Joe's.

My favorite tea is Blackberry Sage decaf tea. It is very delicious. When I get home from work tea is just the thing to make me relax....and if I have a few friends to have tea with, even better!
